Usage and Activation Policy

Last updated: 17 August 2026

Here you'll find everything you need to know about activating, the validity period and using your easysimy eSIM. This policy supplements our General Terms and Conditions.

1. When does your eSIM's validity period start?

For almost all easysimy plans, the validity period only starts when your eSIM connects to a supported mobile network for the first time – usually after you arrive at your destination. Downloading, installing and setting up the eSIM does not start the validity period. You can therefore install your eSIM at home before you leave, at your leisure.

Exception: plans whose validity starts upon installation

For the following destinations, the network operator stipulates that the validity period begins immediately upon installation on your device – not only upon first connecting to the network. Please therefore install these eSIMs only immediately before or at the start of your trip:

  • Egypt – Unlimited 3 days, 5 days and 10 days
  • Bosnia & Herzegovina – Unlimited 30 days
  • Mayotte – Unlimited 3, 5, 7, 10 and 15 days
  • Suriname – Unlimited 3, 5, 7 and 10 days

This list reflects the status as of 17 August 2026 and covers all affected plans in our range. As network operators may change their requirements, the information on the respective product page at the time of your order is always decisive. If in doubt, you can reach us at support@easysimy.com.

2. How long can you keep your eSIM before installing it?

After purchase, for the vast majority of our plans you have 365 days to install the eSIM on a device. So you can easily buy an eSIM in advance, keep it for a later trip or give it as a gift.

Important: If the eSIM is not installed on a device within this period, the profile is permanently deactivated by the network operator. The eSIM can then neither be used nor topped up. There is no entitlement to a refund in this case.

For individual plans, the network operator does not specify an installation deadline. No fixed deadline applies there – we nevertheless recommend not leaving the eSIM unused for an unnecessarily long time.

3. Top-up after consumption or expiry

If your data volume is used up or the validity period has expired, you can usually top up the same eSIM for another 90 days, for individual plans 180 days. After each top-up, this period starts again.

If no top-up is purchased within this period, the eSIM profile is permanently switched off by the network operator and can no longer be topped up. To use the service again, a new eSIM must be purchased.

4. What “unlimited” means – fair-use rule

Plans with unlimited data volume are subject to a fair-use rule of the respective network operator: after reaching a certain daily volume – for most of our plans 3 GB per day – the transmission speed is reduced to 1 Mbit/s for the rest of the day. So you stay online but surf more slowly. Full speed is available again the following day.

You can find the fair-use rule applicable to your plan on the respective product page.

5. Requirements for use

  • One device: An eSIM can only be installed on a single device and cannot be transferred to another device.
  • Reinstallation: Reinstallation on the same device is possible up to five times. The existing profile must first be completely deleted while an internet connection is active.
  • Device: Your device must be eSIM-capable and free of a network lock (SIM lock). Please check this before purchasing with our device check.
  • Internet connection: An existing internet connection, e.g. via Wi-Fi, is required to install the eSIM.
  • Data roaming: For the eSIM to connect at your destination, data roaming must be enabled in your device settings.
  • APN: For individual plans – especially on Android devices – the access point (APN) must be entered manually. The appropriate details are in your installation guide.
  • Data-only plan: Our plans are data plans without their own phone number, unless telephony and SMS are expressly stated on the product page.
  • Displayed network name: Depending on the network operator, the name of the local network or “Airalo” may appear on your display. This is not an error.

6. If something doesn't work

Simply contact us at support@easysimy.com. In addition to your statutory rights, our voluntary 30-day functional guarantee applies: if a purchased eSIM cannot be activated or used for reasons within our area of responsibility or that of the network operator, and our support cannot resolve the problem, we will refund the full purchase price. You can find the details in § 10 of our Terms and Conditions.
